While Port to Port MTB is achievable for anyone with a decent level of fitness, the better you prepare the more you’ll enjoy the journey. Each stage brings a different mix of challenging climbs and frothing descents on single track and fire roads - all things that make MTB racing so much fun. As a rider you want to be able to back it up fresh each day. You need to train to best prepare you specifically for these demands.

The FTP Training 12 week programs are designed to cover exactly that! Great for newbies looking to challenge themselves in their first stage race, master riders wanting to beat PB’s right through to the elite riders of the TORQ MTB team.

The program kicks off the week of 5 March and depending on your training level, you will receive daily or weekly training emails, webinars and specific course preparation information to help you be in your best form. There is more info on the FTP website.

I’m in! What are the program options?

$79 program (for you $0)
This program is great if you’re riding Port to Port MTB for the first time and aren’t super focused on results. It is designed to build your fitness to a level that enables you to enjoy the entire ride with a smile on your dial from start to finish.

Riders keen for more intense training can step it up and redeem their $79 as a credit off the Bronze and Silver 12 week programs.

Bronze program (normally $158 for you $79)
This program will suit you if you’ve done Port to Port MTB or a similar event before and want become a better rider. It has been specifically created with the Port to Port MTB course in mind. If you are looking to step it up, beat your PB (or your mates) and learn more about training and techniques then this is the program for you.

Silver program (normally $278 for you $199)
This program is for riders who want to be the best rider they can be. It is a completely tailored program taking into account your personal goals and the Port to Port MTB course. The program utilises the Today’s Plan online analysis platform and involves daily training emails. If you are results focused, love data and analysing what you are doing and want to be the very best you can be then this here is your ticket! 

I missed the boat! What can I do?

Bummer, you won’t be able to jump in on the 12 week program. It kicks off on Monday 5 March and is only available to riders who’ve registered by midnight 4 March.
