It’s been a difficult period for Port to Port to say the least. Firstly, losing two years dealing with the on-going impacts of the pandemic, and then getting so close in 2022 before having the unprecedented weather impacts on the trails pull the rug from under us.
When we announced that the 2023 Port to Port would be taking place from 30 March to 2 April, we felt very confident about being able to return this event to its former glory and deliver you an incredible MTB experience. Unfortunately, the lingering effects of the last few years on the events industry, and the severe wet weather that plagued so much of 2022 has restricted our event planning, kept the team off the trails and continues to impact many of the trails we ride. This means we’re not in a position to deliver an event to the standards that you, nor us, require.
As a result, unfortunately Port to Port will not take place as planned from 30 March – 2 April 2023.
We know this news will be very disappointing for you, as it is for us. We love this event and making this decision an incredibly difficult one. While we are pressing ‘pause’ on Port to Port, this is not the end of the road for this event. We hope that with time, we will come out the other side of this even stronger and be able to get the good times rolling in the Hunter Region once again.
Our two other MTB events in Australia, Reef to Reef and Cape to Cape, are not affected by this decision and will be delivered as planned. So if you're still looking for your MTB stage racing fix, we recommend checking them out. 2023 registered riders have been contacted with information about options. If you have not received an email from us, please get in touch at email@example.com.
Thanks to the whole Port to Port community for your ongoing support of the event through its highs and lows, and we hope to see you on the trails again soon.
